Train to Teach

Train to Teach with KNSTE.

Did you know that Kidsgrove Primary and Shaw Education Trust work in close partnership with Keele and North Staffordshire Teacher Education (KNSTE)?

KNSTE is a School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) provider that has a partnership of over 120 schools who work across Stoke on Trent and Staffordshire, including our own. We are delighted that a number of our current staff have benefitted from KNSTE’s teacher education programmes. We would like to promote their work with you, and ask that you share this with anyone that you know who may be interested in teaching as a career.

KNSTE’s courses are available both as a full time and a two-year flexible option. KNSTE offers a combination of primary routes with subject specialisms including Early Years and an English and Communication (SEND) programme. If you decided to train to teach with KNSTE you can gain a Keele University Postgraduate or Professional Certificate alongside Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

KNSTE also offer an Assessment Only (AO) route which is appropriate for very experienced Teaching Assistants, Higher Level Teaching Assistants or graduate teachers without QTS. Applicants will already have considerable classroom experience including a responsibility for planning, teaching and assessment of whole classes during the last 2-3 years. KNSTE can support applicants in gaining any additional experiences that they may need in order to access this route.

KNSTE hosts regular Open Evening events throughout the year. These can be attended either in person or online. The evenings offer a valuable opportunity to learn more about the course(s) and provide an opportunity to ask any questions that applicants may have when considering joining our wonderful profession. KNSTE’s next Open Evenings will be held on Monday 13th June 2022 and on Thursday 14th July 2022. Please register your interest on the online form at: https://knste-shaw.org.uk/open-evenings-2022/.
