Kidsgrove Primary School
Empowering Learners...Growing Minds
We aim for our language education to foster pupils’ curiosity and deepen their understanding of the world; enable pupils to express their ideas and thoughts in another language; and understand and respond to its speakers, both in speech and in writing. Our current language provision is Spanish.
Spanish is currently taught from Year 3 to Year 6, with year 1 and 2 learning some simple Spanish through songs. All children from year 3 to year 6 have weekly Spanish lessons during the year. Spanish is taught using Language Angels that is interactive programme.
All lessons allow children to develop their language skills in relevant, engaging and meaningful contexts. Learning happens through a great range of interactive activities, role-play, songs, games and stories. In the earlier stages of language learning the focus is on speaking and listening.
Language Angels is 100% committed to effective teaching and learning in primary foreign languages for all pupils. It fully support teachers of pupils with special educational needs and disabilities, enabling them to access our foreign language curriculum from Nursery all the way through to the end of primary phase in an inclusive environment.
