Foxes Home Learning

As all learners in Foxes Class have an iPad, home learning is set digitally.

 

Learners are expected to complete a Maths and Spelling challenge daily. These games should take 5 to 10 minutes to complete.

  • Times Tables Rock Stars Times Tables Rock Stars is a carefully sequenced programme of daily times tables practice. Fox learners are expected to complete 5 to 10 minutes of daily practice on TTRS or Maths Shed, at least 4 days a week.
  • Maths Shed Games and challenges to develop the fluent recall of number facts are set weekly. Fox learners are expected to complete 5 to 10 minutes of daily practice, at least 4 days a week.
  • Spelling Frame A spelling rule is assigned each week. Children then choose to either practise the spelling or take a test with those words. All words are read aloud (make sure your sound is turned up) and provided within a sentence for context. Fox learners are expected to complete 5 to 10 minutes of daily practice, at least 4 days a week.

As a school, we prioritise reading. Please listen to your child read everyday for a minimum of 10 minutes. Your child has been assigned texts on either Oxford Owl or Reading Plus. 

  • Oxford Owl Essential Letters and Sounds Reading three digital books are assigned each week. Children then choose to either to read their fluency or challenge texts. Fox learners are expected to read every day for at least 10 minutes.
  • Reading Plus The Reading Plus program helps your child become a better reader. Reading Plus helps children develop the skills they need to be proficient readers and lifelong learners. Through regular Reading Plus practice, reading will become easier, comprehension will increase, and your child will make meaningful connections between reading and learning. Learners are expected to use this for 15 minutes each evening.
