Week beginning 19th June 

 

Another fantastic week in Badgers completing assessments and showing not only Mr Brookes and his team how amazing we are and what we have learnt but also blowing Mrs Johnson away with our progress this year. The children have worked extremely hard and this has been seen in the amount of progress the children have made they are 100% ready for next year and moving up through the school.


 

Week beginning 12th June

 

We have had another busy week in Badgers class from learning all about hunter gathers in the Stone Age to publishing our fantastic writing. I am so proud of how hard you continue to work!

 

Writing

This week in writing the children have written a narrative based on the story Stone Age Boy. The children have enjoyed reading and coming up with their own characters and using features found within the story. Take a look below:

   

 

Maths

 

This week in Maths the children have been learning how to multiply both 2 digit and 3 digit numbers by 1 digit numbers at first this was a difficult concept now they are maths wizards!

  

 

 

Topic

 

​​​​​​​The children this week have loved learning all about how the Stone Age people were known as Hunter-Gathers and how they had to hunt and search for food such as mammoths, berries and even crabs!

 

 

 

 

Week beginning 21st May 2023

 

Badgers have had a fantastic week this week and we even got to do some of our learning outside due to the sun finally coming out to play!

 

Writing

In writing this week the children have been writing their own version of the story Bike boy. We have had some lovely verisons from scooter sarah to roller skate rick. The children have enjoyed creating such a fun character and being able to plan out their own story!

   

 

 

Maths

In maths this week the children have been learning to divide 2 digit numbers by 1 digit and we even managed to get on to the big 3 digit numbers. The children struggled with this concept at the start but now we have become maths wizards and we are even impressing Mrs Johnson.

   

 

PE

 

In PE we tried a new sport ROUNDERS! The children loved being on the filed and practicing their batting and catching skills.

 

   

Week beginning 15th May 2023

 

We have had a busy week in Badgers class this week, From learning all about the story called Bike boy to orienteering around the school in PE!

 

Writing

 

This week in writing we have started a new class text 'Bike boy' the children have loved learning about how a Boy called Ben struggled when he was younger to do certain tasks but as he gets older these tasks seem to become more managable. The children have started to write there own version of Bike boy from Skateboard Susan to Scooter Sam!

 

Maths

In maths this week the children ahev worked extremly ahrd at 2 digit multiplied by 1 digit and we even managed to get on to 3 digit multiplied by 1 digit the children struggled with this concept at first but as the week progressed the children become more confident and you could see the joy in their face wen they realised they could do it!

 

      

 

PE

Badgers have been doing some orienteering in PE this week following a map they edited on Google maps!

    

Week beginning 8th May 2023

 

This week the children have been extra respectful to the year 6 children who have been completing their SATs. The children have completed lots of lovely tasks from performing poetry to writing a sunflower diary in science.

 

Writing

In writing we have been wriitng poems based on the boy who could not see, the children had to compare colours using similes and metaphors if you wish the children have memorised their poems and even have action to them ask them for a special performance!

  

 

Maths 

 

In maths this week we have bene learning all about decimals and the place value of each digit, we even managed to get on to adding and subtracting decimals the children have worked extremely hard this week well done all!!

  

 

Topic

 

In topic we have been keeping a close eye on the sunflower seeds we planted and we have started to create a diary to keep track of the growth of our sunflowers. We cant wait until they grow into giant plants!

 

Week commencing 23rd April 2023

 

This week the children have worked extremely hard from learning all about life as a Tudor child to continuing to write in the style of Roald Dahl taking inspiration from the BFG.Take a look at some of our highlights of our week below:

 

Writing 

We have continued using the BFG for inspiration this week, we really enjoyed the part where he collects dreams and we decided to write about a dream where the playground changes into something else from lego land to a football stadium.

 

Maths  

In our maths lessons this week we have been learning about fractions and concentrating on equivalent and fractions greater than 1. The children at the start of the week found this difficult but by the end of the week were able to teach our year 5 children all about fractions. 

    

 

 

Topic

 

This week we have been learning about what life is like for Tudor children and we even managed to complete some hot seating and children had the chance to ask children from the Tudor times using hot seating.

 

   

Week commencing 17th April

 

The children have come back to school well rested and ready to learn after their much deserved easter break! The children have been extremely excited to find out what we will be learning about this half term find out below what we have been up tothis week.

 

Writing

For the next 2 weeks in writing we have been learning how to write in the style of the great Roald Dahl the children have found this fascinating especially after reading part of the BFG and making jp pour own giant language!

 

Maths

 

During maths this week we have continued looking at how to compare and order moeny based on value and even using our knowldege of 100p=£1. The children have work exceptionally hard!

   

Spring 2 half term update

 

Last half term the children in Badgers class work exceptionally hard learning all about the story float, looking at couting and ordering money and even learning all baout Ancient Egypt. Ou favourite lesson last half term was when we found out how Egyptians mumified bodies it was disgusting they pull the brain out the persons nose EWWWWWWW!

          

Week Commencing 6th February 2023.

 

This week was our Sixth week of 2023 and an enjoyable week it has been. Well done for all Badgers continuing with the perseverance and determination to succeed in every lesson just like last week!

 

Assessment week!

This week the children have worked extremely hard in their assessments and we can see the hard work thta they have done over the least half term really pay off I am so so proud of my Badgers class this week!

                                                      

Week Commencing 23rd January 2023.

 

This week was our fiftth week of 2023 and an enjoyable week it has been. Well done for all Badgers continuing with the perseverance and determination to succeed in every lesson just like last week!

 

Maths.

This week in Maths we started to learn our all about Area. Pupils have applied their learnt knowledge of times tables to help support their learning this week.They have even had to multiply 2 digit by 1 digit and even 3 digit by 1 digit! They even had to remember to use the magic squared number! Brilliant effort from every single Badger this week during Maths. 

   

 

English.

This week has seen the Badgers looking into a holiday advert using the island of Sicily, using this tricky text to answer VIPERS questions. In Writing, pupils began to research facts and even find out the key features of a non-fiction text the children identified these using shapes to help create a memorable structure.

  

 

Topic

This week our favourite lesson this week was when we got to create our own Egyptian gods we had some silly names and some even better drawings!

  

Week Commencing 23rd January 2023.

 

This week was our fourth week of 2023 and an enjoyable week it has been. Well done for all Badgers continuing with the perseverance and determination to succeed in every lesson just like last week!

 

Maths.

This week in Maths we started to learn our all about multiplication and division. Pupils have applied their learnt knowledge of times tables to help support their learning this weekThey have even had to multiply 2 digit by 1 digit and even 3 digit by 1 digit!  Brilliant effort from every single Badger this week during Maths. 

   

 

English.

This week has seen the Badgers looking into The Wolves in the walls (its a little spooky), using this tricky text to answer VIPERS questions. In Writing, pupils continued to write their own suspense story using the plot of Wolves in the walls but changing it to either a spider, snake or rat! The children have loved writing their stories!

    

 

Topic

This week we had special visitor in Badgers class who came in to teach us all about being safe and how we can support each other in staying safe in school and at home.

This week was our third week of 2023 and an enjoyable week it has been. Well done for all Badgers continuing with the perseverance and determination to succeed in every lesson just like last week!

This week in Maths we started to learn our all about multiplication and division. Pupils have applied their learnt knowledge of times tables to help support their learning this week.. Brilliant effort from every single Badger this week during Maths.

This week has seen the Badgers looking into The Wolves in the walls (its a little spooky), using this tricky text to answer VIPERS questions. In Writing, pupils continued to look at another tense narrative story in which we delved into the craziness of spooky wolves hiding walls, in order to gather verbs, alliteration and adjectives to enhance our writing.

  

 

Topic

This week our favourite part was when Mr Brookes allowed us to go outside and have some fun in the snow, completing team building tasks and even who can build the best SNOWMAN!

This week was our second week of 2023 and an enjoyable week it has been. Well done for all Badgers continuing with the perseverance and determination to succeed in every lesson just like last week!

 

Maths.

This week in Maths we recapped addition and subtraction us column method. Pupils have applied their learnt knowledge of place value to support them. Brilliant effort from every single Badger this week during Maths. 

 

   

 

English.

This week has seen the Badgers looking into The Wolves in the walls (its a little spooky), using this tricky text to answer VIPERS questions. In Writing, pupils began to look at another tense narrative story in which we delved into the craziness of spooky wolves hiding walls, in order to gather verbs, alliteration and adjectives to enhance our writing.

 

Topic

This week our favourite lesson has been PE where we did YOGA! We really enjoyed this active but calming activity!

 

      

Week Commencing 2th January 2023.

 

This week was our first week of 2023 and an enjoyable week it has been. Well done for all Badgers coming back with the perseverance and determination to succeed in every lesson. 

 

Maths.

This week in Maths we recapped multiplying/ dividing by 10 and 100. Pupils have applied their learnt knowledge of 10x. Brilliant effort from every single Badger this week during Maths. 

 

English.

This first week back had seen the Badgers looking into The Wolves in the walls (its a little spooky), using this tricky text to answer VIPERS questions. In Writing, pupils began to look at another tense narrative story in which we delved into the craziness of spooky wolves hiding walls, in order to gather verbs, alliteration and adjectives to enhance our writing.

 

Topic

This week had shown the introduction of the Badgers History topic of Ancient Egypt. Badgers wrote their names in hieroglyphics , ready for some lessons in the near future where we will utilise these in a drama lesson based in Ancient Egypt.

 

Overall a fantastic week by all the Badgers since the start of the week. I hope you all had a good holiday break and we continue this drive and determination throughout the rest of the year.

 

                                                                  

Week commencing 5th December 2022.

 

This week Badgers got into the festive spirit, completing assessments, practicing the Christmas play and creating festive hats for the School's Christmas dinner. 

 

English.

This week ended a fantastic week for the Badgers writing unit, with some wonderfully creative writing being completed and marked. Also, some outstanding results in this weeks English assessments from Badgers Year 3's and 4's.

 

Maths.

Another brilliant performance from Badgers showing progression in Maths through assessment. Also, a fun and engaging area lesson in which pupils tested each other on their area knowledge. Brilliant Maths all round from out Badgers.

 

Christmas play.

This week began intense practicing of the Christmas play, Badgers have outdone themselves in their performance, committing themselves in not just the learning of the words. But also, the performing of songs. They have outdone themselves in all aspects this week. 

 

    

Week commencing 28th November 2022.

 

This week our Christmas celebrations kicked off in style with parts being handed out for our Christmas play and also learning our whole school songs. Brilliant effort in all subjects with pupils really getting into the Christmas spirit.

 

Maths.

This week Badgers looked at perimeter, measuring rectangular objects in the room. Also, pushing themselves with previously learnt concepts by expanding their understanding of 4 digit by 2 digit multiplication.

 

English

In true Christmas style, we looked at A Christmas Carol novel, using inference and P.E.E to discuss key features of text and understand why Scrooge, may have been the way he was for a reason.

 

Topic.

This week Badgers continued their Light Science topic, by creating Shadow puppets. Some fun, creative and crazy creations being made by all our Badgers this week. They also watched Attraction Shadow theatre group for inspiration (A must watch if you have not seen it before).

   

Overall, a brilliant week from all our amazing Badgers. Well done folks!!

Week Commencing 21st November

 

We have had another busy week in Badgers class this week from writing all about Charlie finding the golden ticket to learning about light sources in science. Take a look below at our week.

 

Writing

This week in writing we have been writing all about Charlie find the Golden ticket using a range of writing skill's from adjectives, to feelings and similes.

    

 

Maths 

In maths this week we have been continuing to learning all of our times tables using a range of games, recall and written methods.

 

Topic

This week in science we have been learning all about how light can creeo through small spaces allowing us to see ever so slightly in the dark, we completed an experiment this week using objects within a bag and a torch take a look below.

Week Commencing 7th November 

 

What a super week we have had in Badgers class this week from continuing work with our class animation to making lovely poppy tributes using tissue paper and news paper articles.

 

Writing

 

During our writing lesson this week we have continued with our class animation the present but this time we have been writing adverts to adopt a disabled dog the children have loved the idea of writing adverts and understanding how important the language uesed is to help persuade someone to help.

 

       

 

Maths

In our maths lessons this week we have begun to learn our 3 times tables and division facts the children have loved singing songs and even playing a 3 times table board game.

 

    

 

Afternoon

Week Commencing 31st October 

 

The children have had a fantastic first week back after a lovely half term break! They have returned seettled and even more determined than before to learn

 

Writing

The children have enjoyed using the class animation of the present to help create a diary entry from the point of view of the dog. The children then used their knowledge of diary entries to write one from the point of the view of the boy. What a fantastic first attempt of an independent write well done everybody!

Maths

 

This week in maths we have been learning how to subtract 4 digit and 4digit numbers together using our knowledge of place value. The children have loved doing this practically and gradually building up to a more tricky written method.

 

    

 

           

Topic

This week we continued looking at our topic the Anglo-Saxons, the children have been learning this week where the different tribes originated from using the world map and their knowledge of the different tribes.

 

  

     

 

Week 6

 

What a fantastic week we have had in badgers class from continuing our writing using characteristics of speech to a science experiment involving coke and mentos!!

 

Writing

The children have enjoyed using the class text the tunnel this week and have used their knowledge of the characters to write a peice of writing containing direct speech using synonyms for said.

      

 

Maths

 

This week in maths we have been learning how to add 4 digit and 4digit numbers together using our knowledge of place value. The children have loved doing this practically and gradually building up to a more tricky written method.

 

           

 

Science

The science this week has been great fun looking at the chemical reaction between an alkali and acid. Take a look below at our experiment!

Week 5

What a fantastic week we have had Badgers class! We have enjoyed all our learning this week but have been annoyed by the change f weather meaning indoor breaks BOOO!

 

Writing

During our writing this week we have finsihed our fact files all a bout what is happening below your feet, the children have really enjoyed researching facts and turning those facts in to super sentences to keep the reader gripped.

     

 

Maths

This week we have finished our topic if place value, the children have worked extremely hard and have know conqoured numbers up to 1000 and over. Well done guys addition and subtraction next!

 

     

 

Topic

This week we have started our class topic of Anglo saxons! The children have loved discovering who the Anglo Saxons were and where they came from. However, the different names of the countries and counties have confused us but we will get there!

Week 4 

What a busy week we have had in Badgers class from learning about what is happening below our feet to learning how Queen Victoria is related to all of the King Georges 

 

Writing 

The children have started to look at how to write a fact file, using the story " The street beneath our feet". The children have read the story, picked out key features from our class WAGOLL and cant wait to start writing their own fact files next week.


 

Maths

This week we have been looking at ordering and comparing numbers up to and above 1000, this was extremely tricky as we had to use all of our knowledge to help us. 
 

   
 

Science

Week 3

What another fantastic week we have had learning in Badgers class. The children have been extremely busy this week from writing their adventure stories about Black Rock to learning all about the wonderful life our late Queen had and how she served the Commonwealth!

 

Writing

This week during our writing we have continued to look at an adventure story, using the story "The Secrets of Black Rock" to inspire our writing. The children have picked out the key feature of our WAGOLL. They have produced some fantastic writing using a range of skills from inverted commas for direct speech, time adverbials and exclamation  and question sentences

     

 

Maths

 

We have continued our unit of place value looking at partitioning and counting in 100s and 1000s. The children have used lots of mathematical vocab and even got to write on the tables! The children have been applying their knowledge from last weeks learning and applying this to a find 1,10 or 1000 more or less than a given number

   

 

Afternoon topic

 

The children this week have loved their Spanish lessons they have enjoyed learning all about Spanish greetings we have become that good we now answer the register in Spanish! Week 2

What another fantastic week we have had learning in Badgers class. The children have adapted to the key stage 2 ways and have been completing work to a very high standard! Keep up the hard work! Also, don't forget to practice your spellings of the weekend ready for your test on Monday.

 

Writing

This week during our writing we have started to look at an adventure story, using the story "The Secrets of Black Rock" to inspire our writing. This week in topic we have started to set up our scrap books all about the British Monarchy. The children have loved setting up their scrap books and becoming all artistic they can't wait to learn all about the life of Queen Elizabeth II next week. Week 1


We had the best time welcoming the children back into school as our new Year 3/4 class! They have started getting used to being in the key stage 2 corridor and have responded well to this change; and even having lots of praise from Mrs Johnson for their fantastic behaviour and attitudes towards learning.

 

We are ready and eager to learn after completing some reading this week and understanding the changes from key stage 1 to key stage 2.  The children said that they are ready to practise all those skills they need to improve on. Alongside this, the children have been practising note-taking on their iPads, gathering lots of information about the Anglo-Saxons and we have done lots of writing.  The class have created wonderful short poems about what they didn't do over the school holidays! If you want a laugh ask them for some of their favourite examples!
