Peak Wildlife Park

This week, Foxes class had an exciting and educational trip to Peak Wildlife Park, where they got to explore a variety of fascinating animals and deepen their understanding of habitats and homes, which they have been learning all about in Science. The children were able to see a diverse range of creatures, from the playful meerkats and adorable penguins, to the curious red pandas and giant rabbits. They were thrilled to see zebras grazing, polar bears lounging, and even arctic foxes — all creatures that are specially adapted to their unique environments.

One of the highlights of the trip was walking through the lemur enclosure, where the children were able to get up close to these energetic animals as they leaped around their, forest-like habitat. The children were also given the special opportunity to feed the wallabies, learning about their natural behaviours and the kind of environment they thrive in. This hands-on experience brought the concept of habitats to life, reinforcing their classroom lessons in an engaging and interactive way.

Throughout the visit, the children displayed fantastic listening skills and demonstrated a clear understanding of the different animal habitats they were able to see. They asked thoughtful questions about the animals and their environments, showing a keen interest in how each species is adapted to its home. They were excellent representatives of our school, engaging with the staff in a respectful and positive manner. It was a wonderful day of learning, curiosity, and teamwork, as Foxes class truly embraced the opportunity to connect what they had learned in the classroom with real-world experiences.
